Choosing bar stock storage
Bar stock is awkward to store well. Left flat on the floor or leaned against a wall it takes up far more room than it needs to, gets damaged, and slows down every job that starts with finding the right length. A dedicated bar storage system puts stock where it can be seen, counted and lifted safely.
Vertical bar racking
Vertical racks such as our A-frame vertical storage rack hold bar, tube and rod upright in separated bays. They suit shorter lengths and mixed stock, where an operator needs to identify a section at a glance and draw it out by hand. The footprint is small, so vertical bar racking is usually the right answer when floor space is the constraint rather than tonnage.
Cantilever bar racks
Cantilever racking stores long material horizontally on projecting arms, with no front uprights to obstruct loading. It suits full lengths, heavier sections, and stock that is loaded by crane or forklift. Arm spacing can be set to separate grades, diameters or jobs.
Sizing a bar storage rack

Longest length held. Size on the longest bar you actually stock, not the average. Overhang is where damage and injuries start.
Weight per bay. Steel bar is heavier than it looks. Work out the loaded weight of a full bay before settling on a capacity.
Access method. Hand-picked stock wants narrower, clearly separated bays. Crane or forklift loading wants fewer, wider ones.
Floor fixing. Tall vertical racks should be bolted down. Ours are pre-drilled for floor fixing as standard.
