What makes a workbench anti-static
An ESD workbench is not simply a bench with a special top. It is a controlled path to earth. The worktop surface dissipates charge at a measured rate, the frame is bonded to that surface, and the whole assembly connects to a known earth point through a bonding lead. Break any part of that chain and the bench stops protecting the boards on it.
Dissipative anti-static worktops
Our anti-static worktops use a dissipative laminate rather than a conductive one. Dissipative surfaces bleed charge away slowly and in a controlled way, which protects sensitive components better than a conductive top that can discharge too quickly through a device. Each top is supplied with a stud for a wrist strap or earth bonding lead.
Specifying an ESD workstation

Working height. Seated fine assembly and standing test work need different heights. An adjustable height frame suits shared or shift-worked benches.
Upper shelving. Instruments, test gear and sockets belong off the work surface. An upper shelf keeps the bench clear without losing reach.
Earthing. Confirm where the bench will bond to earth before installation, and how many operator positions need wrist strap points.
Loading. Test equipment is heavy and it stays put. Choose capacity on the equipment that will live on the bench permanently, not on the assembly work.

Where these benches are used
The ESD benches on this page are used in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly and rework, instrument calibration and telecoms. All are fully welded in Britain and built to order, so size, worktop and storage can be specified around the workstation rather than chosen from a catalogue.
